Abortion is a global issue. Mothers and preborn babies are under attack worldwide, and PreBorn! has partnered with PassionLife to save these precious babies through the use of handheld ultrasound units.
Thanks to your ongoing support, PassionLife has tested four different models over the years and has settled on a mobile ultrasound machine—the GE V-Scan—that pairs with a tablet to allow for viewing… and it is changing lives worldwide.
Generous donations have covered the purchase, placement, orientation, and training for use of the portable ultrasound unit. PassionLife provides these devices in high abortion areas or where abortion forces like USAID and the UN are attempting to liberalize abortion restrictions.

Tunjas, Colombia — October 2024
PassionLife teaches pro-life biblical ethics, as well as methods of crisis pregnancy interventions. They teach pastors and leaders in a rapidly reproducible way to kindle a passion for life in thousands of people.
Combining their efforts, these impassioned individuals are given the tools to create a Pregnancy Clinic, like in Tunjas, Columbia. PassionLife was there for the dedication and presented them with a hand-held ultrasound unit.
Medellin, Columbia — November 2024
In Medellin, Columbia, PassionLife’s Director for Latin America, Jeanne Pernia, presented a new GE V-Scan to the Medical Director of a Pregnancy Clinic. We are excited to see how this unit impacts the lives of women, children, and families.
Quito, Ecuador — Fall 2024
A PassionLife board member and Assistant Professor of Nursing at Northwestern University, Erica Millar, brought two hand-held ultrasound units to a Clinic in Quito, where she trained and demonstrated how to use the devices. Now, leaders and members of the Clinic are putting the technology to use and blessing families as a result.
Puca Urku, Ecuador — January 2025
Missionary Nurse Practitioner Carolyn, working in Puca Urku, Ecuador, received her GE V-scan in January and immediately used it to help a young mother see her preborn baby. It wasn’t long before the entire village, young and old, came to see the baby.
As a result, PassionLife is distributing Tiny Baby© fetal models as part of training. These fetal models are replicas of preborn children at nine weeks old. This experience is effective, transformative, memorable, and has ignited a newfound passion for life in those who participate.
Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria — Fall 2024
In June 2024, PassionLife brought seven hand-held ultrasound units to Zambia, entrusting them to Barbra Mwansa, the President of the Association for Life Africa (AFLA). In time, she and her team verified when Pregnancy Clinics in Africa were ready to use ultrasound and gave them one of the ultrasound units. All seven units have been placed, and PassionLife has the potential to place 10 more in 2025, with the proper funding.
“The rechargeable ultrasound machines are so good in Africa because they can be used even in places that have power challenges,” writes Barbra regarding the ultrasound machines brought to Rwanda.
Ultrasound services are not easily accessible in many parts of Africa and are often unaffordable for women. Providing these machines for Pregnancy Clinics makes essential, life-saving care accessible to vulnerable mothers.
Cameroon, Chad, Central Africa Republic (CAR) — February 2025
PassionLife’s partner in Africa, Niza Zimwinga, recently traveled to Cameroon to teach French-speaking pastors how they can stand for life and protect innocent preborn babies. She encouraged them to share this training with their fellow pastors so that they may begin rescuing mothers and babies together.
While in Foumbot, Cameroon, Niza presented a new hand-held ultrasound to a local Pregnancy Clinic. Due to the extensive biblical training unfolding in Cameroon, new Clinics should develop as a result. Pastors are training pastors, and together, their churches are answering the call to protect life.
“During the trainings, we also had a chance to give out ultrasound machines in Cameroon, Chad, and Central Africa Republic (CAR), to our affiliates who were so excited [about] how much of a game changer it will be as it is a scarce service which is not available to many,” Niza writes.
Now, as transformation takes place, stories are trickling in:
Deb, aged 22, was advised to seek the services of a local pro-life Pregnancy Clinic. After discovering her pregnancy, she wanted to abort before her parents found out. But at the Clinic, staff and volunteers spoke to her about Christ’s view of pregnancy and abortion alongside her pregnancy test.
After receiving an ultrasound examination and seeing her baby move, Deb abandoned the thought of abortion. Manuy months later she gave birth to a beautiful baby. The father of her child also reappeared after the birth, and the couple is currently married. We give glory to our God for Deb’s redemptive story!
Another source of hope and joy is found in this mother’s story:
Laura emotionally narrated how her husband would instruct her to abort her baby every time she got pregnant, saying they were not financially able to take care of a baby. Later on, Laura visited a Clinic and was shown her 12 week old preborn baby on the ultrasound screen. She immediately chose life for her baby. Laura enrolled in the childbirth class and also participated in a post-abortion healing program.
Through the efforts of Pastor Wali and Pastor Michael Mutale in Kenya, several towns have setup Pregnancy Clinics to protect babies from abortion. These Clinics should soon receive portable ultrasound units once PassionLife is able to secure them.
Santiago, Cuba — August 2024
In the Spring of 2024, PassionLife members shared with various pastors and leaders in Santiago, Cuba how they can stand for life and protect babies from abortion. They met a previous abortion doctor, Dr. Jose Guerra, who testified about his past work and how God changed his life. Now, he runs his former abortion clinic as a Pregnancy Help Clinic.
“I am an OB/GYN specialist. Today, I’m part of the […] PHC here in Santiago, Cuba,” Dr. Guerra shared. “In 1994 I graduated as a medical doctor and started a rotation that included what we euphemistically call ‘the interruption of pregnancy.’ Soon, I became a specialist in abortion and spent every day terminating little ones. It was something I didn’t feel proud of.”
We celebrate God’s work in Dr. Guerra’s life, and we continue to champion his efforts. Last fall, PassionLife gave him a hand-held ultrasound unit, rejoicing that death and destruction has been transformed into a haven for life.
Bayamo, Cuba — Summer 2024
There are now 16 pro-life Pregnancy Clinics open or in development across Cuba, with one of the newest in Bayamo. PassionLife was there to see the new Clinic and to give them an ultrasound unit. We can’t wait to see how God will use this new equipment to save lives and reveal His glory, power, and grace!
Moving Forward
In the coming days, we hope and pray for an even stronger partnership between PreBorn! and PassionLife, who is eager to place another seven ultrasound units in Africa, and another eight in Cuba and Latin America. They also desire to provide the Tiny Baby© fetal model for distribution across various Pregnancy Clinics throughout the United States.
