“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.” Psalm 127:3 NKJV

You don’t have to embark on a long journey through scripture to learn of God’s heart toward children. He tells us to teach them, talk with them, train them, provide for them and protect them.

He shares that He knows each and every child before they are formed, and that He knits them together in their mother’s wombs. He consecrates them and has a plan for their lives. He tells us that His love is bestowed upon them.

God’s Word also says children are to be welcomed to Him, are to be received in His name and that those who are least are the ones who are great.

Not only does God tell of His love, compassion and promise for children, He gives clear instruction that no harm should be brought to them … they are a heritage and a reward.

Unfortunately, we live in a world that has sadly misconstrued God’s love and plan for children.

Today, Planned Parenthood and those of the same murderous spirit, would like to have us think of children as a financial burden, a ball and chain to women’s rights and a barrier to all of our hopes and dreams.

This is the message that was cast toward Alicia when she found out she was pregnant.

Alicia was led to believe that having another baby would be “impossible” and “burdensome” since she is the mother of three young children, one of which is a newborn. This messaging, coming from a stream of external sources, as well as family, pushed her in a corner where she felt alone and too scared to bring a new child into her world.

She found herself taking the advice of the messaging and her family and made the trip to Mexico to begin the chemical abortion process. It was there a pharmacy exchanged 15 pills for her money and sent her on her way with no medical support, advice or instructions.

Over the course of the 10 days following her trip to Mexico, she ingested all 15 pills and waited.

She experienced light bleeding, cramping and headaches, but because of the lack of medical support, she wasn’t sure what was happening or what to do next. The abortion process did not ease her loneliness or fears … it amplified them.

In search of answers she failed to find on her abortion journey, she called the Pregnancy Center of the Coastal Bend and was scheduled for an appointment. The staff welcomed Alicia with open arms, listened to her story as she poured out her thoughts and fears about what was happening in her life and embraced her with non-judgmental love and compassion.

The next thing that happened was nothing short of a miracle.

Alicia agreed to have an ultrasound. As she glimpsed up toward the screen, unsure of what she would find, her eyes fell upon her preborn babies.

Yes, you read that correctly. Not only did the pills given to her in Mexico fail to work … they failed to work on both of the babies tucked safely within her womb. Their heartbeats were strong and steady.

This was not something Alicia was prepared for. She left the Clinic that day, unsure of what her next step would be.

Over the course of the next week, the Clinic staff continued to reach out to her with support and lift her and her preborn babies up in prayer. The support and prayers worked. She returned to the Clinic within a week, declaring she was choosing life for her babies.

The failed chemical abortion gave Alicia six unexpected gifts.

  1. The gift of time.
  2. The gift of perspective.
  3. The gifts of two babies growing safely within her womb.
  4. Time to help her reach out for the support she needed so she could make an informed and empowered decision.
  5. Perspective to help her see that her babies are, in fact, a heritage from the Lord.
  6. And, two babies to be welcomed home this coming October.

Alicia understands that her children could have easily died if the abortion pills she ingested had worked as they “should have.” She also understands that her abortion “wasn’t meant to be.”

This October Alicia will welcome two beautiful newborns into her family … two little gifts from God.

We are thankful for God’s protection of these two little lives, for Clinics like the Pregnancy Center of the Coastal Bend and for all those who support the mission to save babies and souls.
